Historical data shows that since 1976, the country's fish supply has increased by an average of 11.4% each year. In contrast, fish consumption in Colombia is expected to decline slightly. By 2028, consumption is forecasted to drop to roughly 122,000 metric tons, down from about 127,000 metric tons in 2023. This marks an average annual decrease of 0.5% since 2019. In 2023, Colombia ranked 34th globally in fish consumption, with the Netherlands just ahead at the same consumption level of 127,000 metric tons. Leading the global ranking were Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively.
