Portuguese mussel production is set to reach 60 metric tons by 2026, a decline of 7.5% from the 58 tons produced in 2021. Since 2006, production has dropped 31.5% year on year. In 2021, Portugal was the eighth largest producer of mussels, with Romania coming in first with 58 tons. Germany, the Netherlands and France were the second, third and fourth largest producers, respectively.
