Coffee consumption in Malawi is projected to rise to 12,000 metric tons by 2026 from 10,000 metric tons in 2021, increasing by an average of 2.5% a year. This demand has remained flat since 2017, when Malawi was ranked 74th in the world for coffee consumption. Papua New Guinea was ranked ahead of them at 10,000 metric tons, while Brazil, Germany and Japan were the top three. Meanwhile, Malawian coffee production is expected to drop to 1,270 bags of 60 kilograms by 2026 from 8,620 bags in 2021 - a decline of nearly 30% annually. Since 1995, the country's supply has decreased by 15.1% annually, and in 2021, Guyana surpassed it at 8,620 bags of 60 kilograms. Vietnam, Colombia and Indonesia were the next three in the rankings.
