Malagasy maize consumption is predicted to drop by 5.1% each year until 2026, having decreased by 1.9% annually since 2017. Bulgaria topped the chart in 2021 with 203,000 metric tons, while Madagascar ranked 70th with 149,000. India, China and Indonesia came in 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Meanwhile, Malagasy maize production is estimated to fall by 5.3% each year until 2026, after having dropped by 8.9% annually since 1966. Haiti was the leader in 2021, with 198,720 metric tons, while Madagascar was 89th with 144,820. China, Brazil and Argentina were the next three countries in the ranking.
