Mauritian maize consumption is expected to remain unchanged at 4,000 metric tons by 2026. There has been no change since 2017, placing Mauritius at 128th in the 2021 rankings, behind the Bahamas at 4,000 metric tons. India, China and Indonesia took the top three spots. Meanwhile, Mauritian maize production is forecast to drop slightly to 427.93 metric tons by 2026 from 452 metric tons in 2021. This would represent an average yearly decline of 0.9%. Since 1966, the country’s production has grown by 1.7% year on year. Mauritius was 148th in 2021, behind Luxembourg at 452 metric tons. China, Brazil and Argentina took the top three spots.
