Bahamian demand for maize is predicted to remain unchanged over the next five years. In 2021, the country consumed 4 thousand metric tons of maize, the same amount as in 2017. This placed the Bahamas at number 128 on the global ranking, below Belarus at 4 thousand metric tons. China, India and Indonesia were the top three consumers respectively. Bahamian maize production is expected to increase slightly in the next five years. Between 2021 and 2026, the country is expected to produce 716 metric tons of maize, a 0.9% increase annually. The Bahamas was 146th in the world for maize production in 2021, behind Qatar at 678 metric tons. China, Brazil and Argentina were the leading producers respectively.
