Mexicans are set to consume more maize over the coming years. According to forecasts, the consumption of maize in Mexico is expected to reach 15.1 million metric tons by 2026. This is an increase of 0.2% on average each year since 2017. India, China and Indonesia are the next largest consumers behind Mexico. Meanwhile, Mexican production of maize is also forecast to rise. By 2026, it is expected to reach 30.4 million metric tons, an increase of 1.2% on average each year since 1966. India currently produces the most maize, followed by China, Brazil and Argentina.
