Slovenia's maize consumption is predicted to decrease slightly in the next five years, dropping from 65 thousand metric tons in 2021 to 62 thousand metric tons by 2026. This decrease of 0.9% annually is part of a downward trend since 2017, when the country had already seen a 2% decrease year on year. Slovenia came in 94th place in the 2021 ranking, being overtaken by Russia who had 65 thousand metric tons. India, China and Indonesia then followed in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place respectively. Slovenia's maize production is set to grow by 1% year on year, reaching 383,990 metric tons by 2026. This is a slight increase compared to the 0.9% year on year growth since 1997. In 2021, the country ranked 81st, with Nicaragua ahead of them at 362,210 metric tons. China, Brazil and Argentina were then ranked in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place respectively.
