Sri Lanka’s maize consumption is expected to reach 140,000 metric tons by 2026, down from 143,000 metric tons in 2021. This represents a 0.1% average annual decrease since 2017. The country fell to 75th place in 2021, with Kyrgyzstan passing it at 143,000 metric tons. India, China and Indonesia ranked second, third and fourth respectively. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s maize production is predicted to reach 304,000 metric tons by 2026, up from 268,000 metric tons in 2021. This marks an average annual increase of 2.2% since 1966. The country fell to 86th place in 2021, with Azerbaijan surpassing it at 268,000 metric tons. China, Brazil and Argentina were second, third and fourth in the ranking.
