Russia's wheat consumption is expected to remain flat in the coming years, with the country consuming around 19.5 million metric tons annually by 2026. This figure hasn't changed much since 2017, when it was nearly the same. In 2021, Russia was the fifth-largest wheat consumer, with Pakistan overtaking at 19.6 million metric tons. The top three in this ranking were India, the US and Pakistan. Russia's wheat production is likely to increase by 1.7% year-on-year on average, reaching 87.4 million metric tons in 2026. This is up from 79 million tons in 2021 and has grown by 1.5% on a yearly basis since 1997. India was ahead in 2021 with 79 million metric tons, followed by Russia and the US in second and third place, respectively.
