Uzbekistan's consumption of alcoholic beverages is projected to decline significantly over the next five years. By 2028, the nation's alcohol intake is expected to drop to approximately 44,000 metric tons, down from 60,000 metric tons in 2023. This represents an average annual decrease of 4.8%. This downward trend is not new for Uzbekistan. Since 2019, the country's demand for alcoholic drinks has been decreasing at an average rate of 4.4% per year. In the global context, Uzbekistan ranked 33rd in alcoholic beverage consumption in 2023. Australia surpassed Uzbekistan with a consumption level of 60,000 metric tons. Leading the rankings were India, Japan, and Russia, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively.
