Honduran alcoholic drink consumption is projected to decline slightly over the next five years. According to the latest data, consumption is expected to drop from 24,000 metric tons in 2023 to around 23,000 metric tons by 2028. This represents a 0.4% annual decrease in compound annual growth rate (CAGR). The downward trend in demand isn't new for Honduras. Since 2019, the country's appetite for alcoholic beverages has been shrinking by 0.8% each year. In 2023, Honduras ranked 52nd globally in terms of alcoholic drink consumption. Moldova surpassed Honduras with a consumption level also at 24,000 metric tons. The top three countries in this category are India, Japan, and Russia, respectively. On a more positive note, Honduran alcoholic drink exports are on the rise. By 2028, exports are expected to reach approximately $22 million, up from $18 million in 2023. This marks an average annual growth rate of 2.6%. Historically, Honduras has seen a consistent increase in its alcoholic drink exports, with a 4.1% year-on-year rise since 1999. This upward trend highlights the growing global demand for Honduran alcoholic beverages.
