Uruguay narrowly edged out Algeria with the same consumption figure of 7,000 metric tons. Leading the global rankings were India, Japan, and Russia, occupying the second, third, and fourth spots respectively. On the export front, Algeria is facing a downward trend. By 2028, alcoholic drink exports are expected to decline to $5.5 million from $8.5 million in 2023, marking an average annual decrease of 6.8%. This continues a long-term downward trend, as Algerian exports have been decreasing by an average of 5.8% per year since 1997.
