Albania's consumption of alcoholic drinks is projected to decline significantly in the coming years. By 2028, the country's alcoholic drink consumption is expected to reach approximately 1,070 metric tons, down from around 2,000 metric tons in 2023. This marks an average annual decrease of 9.4%. Since 2019, Albania's demand for alcoholic beverages has already been on a downward trend, falling by 7.8% each year on average. In 2023, Albania ranked 105th globally in terms of alcoholic drink consumption, with the Republic of the Congo coming in just ahead at the same level of 2,000 metric tons. Topping the list, India, Japan, and Russia ranked second, third, and fourth respectively. On the export front, Albania has also seen a sharp decline. In 2023, the country's alcoholic drink exports totaled $191,450, a significant drop from $384,400 in 2022. This represents a 50.2% decrease year-on-year. Since 2001, Albanian exports in this sector have been on a steady decline, falling by an average of 21.5% annually.
