Cocoa production in Mexico is estimated to decrease by an average of 2.7% year-on-year to reach 22,310 metric tons by 2026. This would mark a 0.5% decline since 1966. In 2021, Uganda was the top cocoa producer at 26,240 metric tons, overtaking Mexico, which ranked 14th. Ghana, Indonesia, and Nigeria ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th, respectively. Meanwhile, Mexican cocoa imports are expected to grow 3.4% year-on-year on average and reach 55,464,000 kilograms by 2026. This would be an 8.4% increase since 1997. In 2021, Switzerland was the top importer of cocoa at 45,267,000 kilograms, outpacing Mexico, which ranked 16th. The United States, Malaysia and Germany ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th, respectively.
