The global cocoa market is set for growth. Imports are predicted to reach 4.2 billion kilograms by 2026, a 1.2% year-on-year average increase since 2016. The Netherlands is the leading cocoa importer, with 1.2 billion kilograms in 2021. The United States, Malaysia and Germany followed in second, third and fourth place. Costa Rica saw a 530.9% year-on-year growth, while Latvia had a 81.5% decrease since 2016. Global cocoa production is also set for growth, with 6.4 million metric tonnes forecast for 2026, a 1.5% year-on-year average increase since 1966. Ivory Coast is the number one cocoa producer, with 2.3 million metric tonnes in 2021. Ghana, Indonesia and Nigeria followed in second, third and fourth place. Fiji had a 36.1% year-on-year growth, while Jamaica had a 26.8% decrease since 1966.
