Romanians are set to consume 20,000 metric tons of honey by 2026, a 2.1% increase from the 18,000 metric tons consumed in 2021. This is a 1.9% year-on-year growth since 2017. Romania was ranked 15th in 2021, overtaken by Kenya, while the US, Germany, and Iran were the top three countries. The production of honey in Romania is also set to increase, with an average year-on-year growth of 1.1%. This means that by 2026, Romania is expected to produce 29,210 metric tons of honey, up from 27,540 metric tons in 2021. Since 1966, Romanian honey production has increased by 5.4% year-on-year. In 2021, Romania was ranked 16th, overtaken by South Korea. Canada, Argentina, and Iran were the top three producers.
