Italian honey production is set to decline slightly in the coming years, according to forecast figures. The country is expected to produce around nine thousand metric tons of honey by 2026, a 0.4% decrease from 2021. This follows an average annual decline of 0.7% since 1966. Italy was the 34th largest producer in 2021, behind the United Kingdom at nine thousand metric tons, Canada, Argentina and Iran. Consumption of honey in Italy was close to seventeen thousand metric tons in 2018, barely up from the previous year. This put Italy in 16th place, behind Greece's seventeen thousand metric tons, and the United States, Germany and Iran in second, third and fourth places respectively.
