Gabonese car registration is projected to decline significantly over the next five years. By 2028, the number of registered vehicles is expected to drop to roughly 673 units, down from 959 units in 2023. This represents an average annual decrease of 5.6%. This downward trend is not new for Gabon. Since 2010, vehicle registrations in the country have been decreasing at an average rate of 0.7% per year. In 2023, Gabon ranked 115th globally in terms of car registrations, trailing behind the Bahamas, which also registered 959 units. In the global context, Indonesia, Austria, and Belgium took the second, third, and fourth spots respectively in the car registration rankings for 2023.
