Batswana car registrations are projected to decline significantly over the next five years. According to recent data, the number of registered cars in Botswana is expected to drop from approximately 900 units in 2023 to around 300 units by 2028. This represents a steep annual decrease of 17%, continuing a downward trend observed since 2010, when the demand for car registrations in the country has been falling by an average of nearly 9% each year. In the global rankings for 2023, Botswana was placed 117th, with Tajikistan slightly ahead, also recording around 900 units. The top spots in the ranking were held by Indonesia, Austria, and Belgium, respectively securing the second, third, and fourth positions.
