Following Indonesia in the rankings were Austria and Belgium, holding the third and fourth positions, respectively. On the production front, Indonesian car manufacturing is expected to reach around 1.39 million units by 2028, up from 1.19 million units in 2023. This marks a steady growth rate of 2.5% annually. Since 2002, the country's car production has grown at a rate of 2.4% each year. In 2023, Indonesia held the 15th spot in global car production, with the United Kingdom slightly ahead, also at 1.19 million units. Leading the global production rankings were Japan, Germany, and India, occupying the second, third, and fourth spots, respectively.
