The French passenger shipping fleet is set to drop by 34% over the next five years, falling to 326 units by 2026. This follows a 17.1% decrease since 2003. In 2021, France was ranked seventh, behind Germany which had 2,040 units. Spain, Italy and Greece came in second, third and fourth, respectively. Sea transportation expenditure in France jumped 7.1% in 2021, to €7.2 million from €6.72 million in 2020. However, this is a decrease of 30.7% since 2013. France was ranked 14th in 2021, behind Denmark's €7.2 million. Finland, Estonia and Belgium came in second, third and fourth, respectively.
