Ugandan prescription glasses exports grew by nearly 30 percent in 2018, climbing from $347.69 million in 2017 to $449 million. This marked an increase of 12.5 percent since 2016. Meanwhile, imports of prescription glasses to Uganda dropped dramatically in 2018, falling from $4,530 million to just $100 million. This was a decrease of 60.1 percent since 1999. The country ranked 114th in the world for imports, with Macedonia coming in at number one with $100 million, followed by India, Hungary, and the Dominican Republic.
