Since 1966, this commodity has seen a 1.3% annual growth in the country. In 2021, Rwanda was the 52nd largest producer of millet in the world, with Libya producing slightly more at 5,350 metric tons. Nigeria, China and Mali followed in second, third, and fourth place respectively. Rwandan millet consumption in 2018 was estimated at 5 thousand metric tons, up from 2017's 5 thousand metric tons. This put the country in 44th place, just behind Morocco, who consumed 5 thousand metric tons. Niger, Nigeria and Mali respectively ranked in second, third and fourth place.
