Bangladesh is expected to see an increase of around 16,000 metric tons in millet consumption by 2026. Since 2017, demand has been rising at an average rate of 2.9% each year, and the country currently ranks 35th in the world with 12,000 metric tons consumed in 2021. Guinea-Bissau, Niger, Nigeria and Mali make up the top four countries for millet consumption. Meanwhile, Bangladeshi millet production is forecast to drop to 3,040 metric tons by 2026, down 13.9% from 7,050 metric tons in 2021. Since 1966, the country’s supply has decreased by 14.3% each year. Burundi currently has the highest millet production rate, followed by Nigeria, China and Mali.
