Consumption of millet in Zimbabwe is predicted to reach 36,000 metric tons by 2026. This is a 0.6% increase from the 35,000 metric tons recorded in 2021. Annual demand has been on a downward trend since 2017, with a 1.8% decrease year-on-year. In 2021, Zimbabwe ranked 25th in millet consumption, behind Ivory Coast, which was the highest with 35,000 metric tons. Niger, Nigeria and Mali came in second, third and fourth place respectively. Millet production in Zimbabwe is set to drop to 32,440 metric tons by 2026 from 35,860 metric tons in 2021, a 1.7% year-on-year decrease. On the other hand, supply has been growing since 1966, with an annual 5.5% increase. In 2021, Zimbabwe ranked 31st in terms of millet production. Poland was the highest with 35,860 metric tons, followed by Nigeria, China and Mali.
