Burundi's fuel export sector is on an upward trajectory, projected to hit approximately 1,410 cubic meters by 2028. This marks an increase from around 1,230 cubic meters in 2023, with an annual growth rate averaging 2.2%. This growth trend is not new for the East African nation. Since 2012, Burundi's fuel export supply has been expanding at an average rate of 3.6% per year. With these figures, Burundi continues to bolster its presence in the regional fuel market, underscoring a decade-long trend of increasing fuel export capacity.
