Export of polypropylene from Australia is forecast to decline by 1.8% year on year, to 33 million kilograms, in 2026. This follows a 3.4% decrease per annum since 1993. In 2021, Australia ranked 42nd in the world for polypropylene exports, behind Canada which was top with 36 million kilograms. South Korea, Germany and Singapore followed in second, third and fourth place respectively. Import of polypropylene into Australia fell by 4.7% year on year in 2021, to 4.3 million kilograms, from 4.5 million kilograms in 2020. Since 1993, demand has decreased by 29.6% annually. In 2021, Australia was 96th in the world for polypropylene imports, behind Nicaragua with 4.3 million kilograms. Italy, Germany and Indonesia were the next highest importers, in that order.
