Dutch sweeteners production is projected to reach approximately 2 million metric tons by 2028, up from around 1.9 million metric tons in 2023. This growth represents an average annual increase of 1%. Since 2019, the Dutch supply has consistently risen at the same annual rate. In 2023, the Netherlands ranked 24th in global sweetener production, with Canada surpassing it at a similar production level of 1.9 million metric tons. Leading the global rankings, Brazil, the United States, and Thailand held the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. In contrast, Dutch sweetener sales are expected to decline. By 2028, sales are forecasted to drop to about 587,000 metric tons from 627,000 metric tons in 2023, marking an average annual decrease of 1.1%. Despite this downturn, the Dutch market has seen a slight growth of 0.2% per year since 2019.
