In contrast, sweeteners production in Sri Lanka is on the rise. Production is forecasted to hit roughly 95,000 metric tons by 2028, up from 88,000 metric tons in 2023. This growth represents an average annual increase of 1.2%. Since 2019, the nation’s sweeteners supply has seen a more robust annual growth rate of 2.7%. In the global ranking for 2023, Sri Lanka held the 88th position, with Kazakhstan just ahead, matching Sri Lanka’s production at 88,000 metric tons. Leading the global production rankings are Brazil, the United States, and Thailand, occupying the second, third, and fourth spots, respectively.
