The number of hip replacement procedures in Ireland is set to reach 5,500 by 2026, according to new figures. This figure is a slight decrease from 2021, when the Irish total was 5,310 - a 0.2% year-on-year drop. Since 2000, Irish hip replacements have declined by an average of 2.5% each year. In 2021, they ranked 26th in terms of country totals - behind Lithuania, which had 5,310. France, the UK and Italy were second, third and fourth respectively.
