Slovene energy consumption is projected to reach 0.28 exajoules by 2028, up from 0.27 exajoules in 2023. This represents a modest annual growth rate of 1%. Historically, since 1995, the demand for energy in Slovenia has decreased by an average of 2.2% each year. In 2023, Slovenia ranked 70th globally in terms of energy consumption, with Sri Lanka narrowly ahead at 0.27 exajoules. Leading the global rankings are the United States, India, and Russia, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively. On the supply side, Slovene energy provision is expected to reach 6.46 million tonnes of oil equivalent by 2028, slightly up from 6.43 million tonnes in 2023. This increase represents an average annual growth rate of 0.1%. Since 1995, however, the energy supply in Slovenia has been declining at an average rate of 1.4% per year. In the 2023 rankings, Slovenia stood at 25th, with Laos just ahead at 6.43 million tonnes of oil equivalent. The top spots in the supply rankings were occupied by France, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom, in second, third, and fourth places respectively.
