Greece is set to boost its renewable energy production over the next five years. In 2021, the country saw 14.93 terawatt-hours of renewable energy generated - enough to power around 1.5 million households for a year. This was enough for Greece to rank 13th in the world. However, by 2026, Greece is expected to produce 18.46 terawatt-hours of renewable energy - a 3.4% average year-on-year growth rate. Since 1992, Greece has seen its renewable energy production rise by an average of 9.8% year-on-year. It is now set to overtake Portugal, which was ranked 12th in 2021 with 14.93 terawatt-hours. The United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy remain the top three countries for renewable energy production, respectively.
