European Renewable Energy Trends in 2024
Renewable Energy is part of Energy and includes a number of sub-sectors such as Geothermal Energy, Solar Energy, Wind Power, Hydropower and Bioenergy. You may also be interested in Nuclear Power, Electric Power and Coal.
European renewable energy generation is projected to reach approximately 1,520 terawatt-hours by 2028, a significant increase from around 1,150 terawatt-hours in 2023. This marks an average annual growth rate of 4.5%. Since 1970, the European renewable energy supply has seen an annual increase of 8.6%. In 2023, Germany led the continent with 276 terawatt-hours of renewable energy generated. The United Kingdom, Spain, and France followed in second, third, and fourth places, respectively. Notably, Ukraine experienced a dramatic year-on-year increase of 54.5%, while Latvia saw a slight decline of 0.4% since 1970.
