European renewable energy generation is projected to reach approximately 1,520 terawatt-hours by 2028, a significant increase from around 1,150 terawatt-hours in 2023. This marks an average annual growth rate of 4.5%. Since 1970, the European renewable energy supply has seen an annual increase of 8.6%. In 2023, Germany led the continent with 276 terawatt-hours of renewable energy generated. The United Kingdom, Spain, and France followed in second, third, and fourth places, respectively. Notably, Ukraine experienced a dramatic year-on-year increase of 54.5%, while Latvia saw a slight decline of 0.4% since 1970.
