Costa Rica's wool exports are projected to decline by 5.4% to around $1.36 million by 2026. This decline follows the 3.6% drop in exports since 1999. In 2021, Costa Rica was the 105th largest exporter, while Zimbabwe was ahead at $1.88 million. Italy, Germany, and China were the second, third, and fourth largest exporters, respectively. Meanwhile, Costa Rican wool imports are expected to reach $4.1 million by 2026, a 0.7% increase since 2021. The demand for wool in the country has dropped 0.7% since 1999. In 2021, Costa Rica was the 77th largest importer, while El Salvador was ahead at $3.94 million. Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom were the second, third, and fourth largest importers, respectively.
