French wool exports fell 14.6 percent in 2021 to around $31.6 million, down from $37 million in 2020. This marks a 15 percent decline since 1999. Chile overtook France to become the 32nd largest exporter of that year. China, Italy, and Germany were the world's top three exporters, followed by the United Kingdom. French wool imports are expected to drop 6.5 percent year-on-year to reach $88.8 million by 2026. This is a 2.6 percent decrease since 1999. Indonesia overtook France to become the 15th largest importer in 2021. Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom were the world's top three importers.
