Uruguayan Nickel imports are projected to decline by around 4.6% a year over the next five years, falling to $90 million by 2026. This is a significant drop from the $118 million recorded in 2021. Since 1999, Uruguayan demand has declined by an average of 14.6% a year. In 2021, Kyrgyzstan overtook Uruguay, with imports worth $118 million. The United States, Japan and Norway ranked second, third and fourth in this ranking. Uruguay's exports of Nickel rose dramatically in 2018, reaching close to $19 million - up from $5 million in 2017. This represented an increase of 274.2% year-on-year. In 2018, Bulgaria was ahead of Uruguay with exports worth $18.7 million. The United States, Russia and Germany were the next three largest exporters.
