Hungarian coal production is projected to decline significantly in the coming years. By 2028, production is expected to drop to approximately 0.01 exajoules, down from 0.03 exajoules in 2023. This represents an average annual decrease of about 12%. The downward trend is not new. Since 1986, Hungary's coal supply has been shrinking at an average rate of nearly 10% per year.
