Since 2000, the country has seen a 0.6% decrease in food waste treated. The UK ranked 7th globally in 2021, while Canada was ahead at 30,810 thousand metric tons. Germany, Japan and Mexico were ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Meanwhile, food waste generated in the UK is set to fall by 0.3% year on year average rate to 29,930 thousand metric tons by 2026. Since 1995, the country has seen a 0.8% decrease. The UK was 6th globally in 2021, with France leading the way at 30,480 thousand metric tons. China, Germany and Japan were ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
