In 2018, the Kenyan Gypsum exports totaled around 131 million kilograms, a 78% increase since 2017. This was the highest level since 1997 and saw the country rank 18th in the world, overtaken by India in the process. Thailand, Spain and Iran followed in second, third and fourth place, respectively. At the same time, Kenyan gypsum imports fell by 46% to 56 million kilograms in 2018, compared to the previous year. Since 1997, demand has dropped by 3.4% year on year.
