The United States, the United Kingdom and Germany respectively ranked numbers 1, 2 and 3 in the global import ranking. Kenyan bicycle exports skyrocketed 483.1% in 2018 to 24,400 units, up from 4,180 units in 2017. Since 1997, Kenyan exports have risen 43.7% year-on-year. Kenya came in at 34th in the world rankings, with Estonia narrowly taking the lead at 24,400 units. Japan, Portugal and Italy followed at 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Kenya's bicycle imports also increased in 2018, reaching 159,670 units, a 5.6% rise from 151,220 units in 2017. Since 1997, imported bikes have dropped 0.8% year-on-year. Kenya came in 16th in the global import rankings, outpacing Thailand's 159,670 units. The United States, the United Kingdom and Germany claimed the top three spots.
