Maltese imports of bicycles saw a sharp drop of 45.8% in 2021 compared to the previous year, falling from 1,600 units in 2020 to just 864. Over the past two decades, demand has shrunk by 20.3%. Meanwhile, exports of bicycles surged by an impressive 783.3% in 2018 compared to 2017, climbing from 30 units to 265. Malta ranked 58th in the world for exports that year, just behind Swaziland at 265 units. Japan, Portugal and Italy were the top three exporters. Over the past twenty years, however, Maltese supply has decreased by 51.5%.
