Consumption of fish in Belgium is expected to reach 41 thousand metric tons by 2026, a slight decrease of 1.3% compared to 2021. Demand for fish has been on the decline since 2017, with a 3% fall year on year. Belgian fish production rose by 48% in 2018 compared to the previous year, reaching 111 metric tons. Over the past four decades, production in the country has dropped by 12.1% year on year. In 2018, Belgium was ranked 147th in the world, while Barbados came first with 111 metric tons. Indonesia, India and Vietnam followed in second, third and fourth place respectively.
