European transportation revenue is projected to reach approximately €530 billion by 2028, down slightly from around €542 billion in 2023. This represents a modest average annual growth rate of 0.9%. Since 2019, the European market has seen an average yearly increase of 1.9%. In 2023, Germany led the continent in transportation revenue, generating about €147 billion. France, Italy, and Spain followed, ranking second, third, and fourth, respectively. Notably, Slovakia experienced a significant year-on-year jump of 3.5%, while Finland reported a consistent annual growth of 0.9% since 2019. On the expenditure front, European transportation spending is expected to rise to roughly €1.31 trillion by 2028, up from about €1.26 trillion in 2023. This translates to an average annual growth rate of 1%. From 2019 to 2023, European demand for transportation services increased by 0.8% annually. Germany also topped the list in transportation expenditure for 2023, with approximately €247 billion spent. The United Kingdom, France, and Italy ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively. Lithuania recorded an impressive year-on-year expenditure growth of 8.6%, while Cyprus saw a decline of 1.8% per year since 2019.
