Forecast: Share of Travel Services Imports in Services Imports in Thailand

Between 2013 and 2019, the share of travel services imports in services imports in Thailand showed an overall increasing trend, reaching a peak of 22.51% in 2017, followed by slight declines in 2018 and 2019. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a significant drop to 9.66% in 2020, which further decreased to 5.97% in 2021. Thereafter, a partial recovery was observed with 11.09% in 2022 and a slight drop to 10.69% in 2023. From 2024 onwards, the forecasted data indicates a gradual, continuous decline in the share, reaching 9.74% by 2028.

Future trends to watch for include the ongoing impact of health concerns on international travel, the potential for new policies to bolster travel recovery, and shifts in consumer behavior towards sustainable and local travel options, which may influence the trend of travel services imports in the longer term.
