As of 2024, Germany leads in the number of hybrid diesel-electric passenger cars in Europe with 524.07 thousand units. Italy and Spain experienced tremendous growth in this segment with respective increases of 117.48% and 123.14% year-on-year, now standing at 228.91 thousand and 142.41 thousand units. France also saw a significant increase, coming in at 172.21 thousand units with a 25.18% rise.

Countries such as Belgium, Sweden, and Austria saw notable growth, with Belgium increasing by 65.98%, Sweden by a remarkable 134.07%, and Austria by 86.67%. Switzerland, Portugal, and Romania demonstrated moderate to low growth rates with values standing at 40.04 thousand, 28.06 thousand, and 22.97 thousand units respectively. In Northern Europe, Finland and Denmark observed substantial growth of 47.3% and 165.84%, while Norway saw a slight decline of 1.61%.

Smaller markets such as Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia registered impressive growth figures. On the other hand, countries like Malta, Iceland, and Liechtenstein have extremely low but growing numbers of hybrid diesel-electric passenger cars, illustrating emerging interest.
