However, fluctuations were observed, notably a decline in 2016, 2020, and a slower growth pace between 2018 and 2019. The largest year-on-year increase occurred in 2015 with a rise of 37.87%. Between 2019 and 2023, the value grew consistently, with the highest five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.42% from 2022. Looking forward, the forecast suggests continuous growth, reaching €915.8 million by 2028, with an average annual growth rate of 3.59%.
Future trends to watch for include innovations in product formulations catering to dietary preferences, increasing consumer awareness of health and nutrition, and expanding export markets.
