European demand for spreads is on the rise, with imports to reach €913 million by 2026, up 2.2% year on year, according to CAGR. Since 2016, demand has risen 3.7% annually. France led the way in 2021, with imports of €151 million. The UK, Germany and Belgium followed, respectively. Hungary saw a 13% rise year on year, while Belgium declined by 5.8%. Exports of spreads from Europe are expected to hit €1.2 billion in 2026, up 1.8% year on year, according to CAGR. Since 2016, supply has increased 1.5% each year. Italy topped the European export list in 2021, with €254 million. Germany, Poland and France followed. Slovenia saw an annual increase of 34.5%, while Malta declined 62.8%.
