Irish Smart Card exports are forecast to drop by an average of 1.1% each year over the next five years, hitting 6.7 million items in 2026. This follows a 5.7% decrease since 2012. In 2021, Ireland was the 15th largest exporter, with Greece ahead at 7.5 million items. Germany, Spain and the Netherlands followed in that order. Imports of Irish Smart Cards are expected to grow by an average of 2.7% each year over the next five years, reaching 17.3 million items by 2026. This is a slight decrease from the 1.2% drop recorded since 2012. Ireland was the 20th largest importer in 2021, with Lithuania taking the lead at 14.7 million items. The Netherlands, Spain and France followed.
