In 2021, Japan was the country with the second highest Hospital Discharges, behind China, which had 16,823,000 Hospital Discharges. Russia, the United States and Germany followed in third, fourth and fifth places, respectively. The number of hospital beds in Japan is projected to drop slightly over the next five years, from 1.6 million in 2021 to 1.6 million in 2026. This is a 0.5% decrease year-on-year, and since 1998 the supply has fallen 0.7% annually. Japan was ranked second in 2021 for the number of hospital beds, with China in the lead at 1.6 million beds. Russia, the United States, and Germany were the next three countries in the ranking. Meanwhile, the number of hospital discharges is expected to rise 0.7% each year, from 16.8 million in 2021 to 17.6 million in 2026. Since 1992, Japanese demand has increased 1% each year. In 2021, China had the most hospital discharges of any country, at 16.8 million. Japan was second, with Russia, the United States, and Germany in third, fourth and fifth places, respectively.
